Patricia Wakesho Mkoji is a Data, AI & Machine Learning Assistant at the International Center for Evaluation and Development (ICED), where she supports the design and implementation of data-driven and AI-powered solutions that strengthen monitoring, evaluation, learning, and evidence-based decision-making. Her work focuses on applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, and software engineering to improve data management, analysis, and knowledge generation for sustainable development across Africa.
Patricia is a software engineer with expertise in full-stack development, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, large language model (LLM) integration, vector databases, and intelligent document retrieval. She is passionate about transforming complex data into actionable insights and building innovative technologies that enhance organizational learning, research, and program effectiveness.
Prior to joining ICED, Patricia contributed to digital health initiatives with Chemonics International under the USAID Afya Ugavi Project, where she supported the development of data collection, integration, and visualization systems used across Kenya's health supply chain. She also worked as a Coding and Robotics Tutor, mentoring learners in software development, robotics, and artificial intelligence while fostering problem-solving and innovation among young people.
Patricia holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Bharathiar University, India, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Periyar University, India. She is also a graduate of the ALX Software Engineering Program and completed the ALX AI Career Essentials program, further strengthening her expertise in modern AI technologies and intelligent systems.
She is passionate about the responsible application of artificial intelligence for social impact and believes that emerging technologies can accelerate research, strengthen evidence systems, and improve development outcomes. At ICED, Patricia is committed to advancing innovative, data-driven solutions that empower organizations, governments, and communities to make informed decisions and create lasting impact.
