Dr Daniel Weldegebriel Ambaye, is currently the assistant professor, PhD and Project Coordinator, at the Institute of Land Administration, Bahir Dar University. Before that he was the Assistant Professor, Deputy Director at the same institute. He has a membership in the professional association, as a director of Strengthening East African Land Administration Network.

Dr Ambaye is certified in quite a number of trainings he has attended, just to mention his recent ones, which include training on Project Proposal Development in 2012. Training certificate on Demand Driven Research in the Area of Land Administration in 2011. He was the chairperson of the Eastern Africa Land Administration Network (EALAN) from June 2015 to June 2016.  He has also participated in the project proposal writing submitted for Nuffic to receive support for the network 1 million USD received.

On consultancy projects, Dr Ambaye has engaged in a number to mention a few, In 2016, in Ethiopia for the World Bank Group, a survey on enabling the business of Agriculture Project Land EBA. The EBA-Land indicator analyses and monitors the quality of land governance system inclusion, transparency and effectiveness of land governance. In this regard, he provides the full data related to Ethiopian land right, land registration, expropriation, largescale land based investment, land leasing, land record and update, group land rights, and gender disaggregation of land record. He later consulted for them, on assessment of the impact on Farmers of the Policy Differences between Oromia and Amhara Land Proclamations. Other projects include Training Manual for Expropriation Valuation and Compensation Process in Ethiopia for the LAND project of the USAID, amongst many others.

Dr Ambaye has a PhD in Land Rights and Expropriation from the Royal Institute of Technology which he got in 2013 and an MSc on Land Management at the same institute in Ethiopia.  In 2000 he did his LLB, at the Addis Ababa University, Faculty of Law, and Ethiopia.
