The 2023 Feed the Future Horticulture Innovation lab annual meeting is being organized by the International Center for Evaluation and Development (ICED), the host organization for the East Africa horticulture regional hub. The meeting will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from the 20th -26th May, 2023. The annual meeting brings together the Lab’s International Advisory Board, Consortium partners, regional hub managers, management entity team from University of California, Davis and Project Investigators from the different regional hubs. The regional hubs are: West Africa, East Africa, South Asia and Central America. The annual meeting provides a platform for sharing research results / knowledge, capacity strengthening, and cross-collaborating. The objective of the meeting is to:
(a) Provide updates on the Horticulture innovation lab projects.
(b) identify opportunities for increasing their impact and scalability
(c) Learn about horticulture, technologies, and its potential impact in the East Africa Region.
The meeting will commence with the Horticulture Innovation Lab Advisory Board meeting on the 20th and 21st of May 2023, at the Maasai Lodge, Nairobi, Kenya. This will be followed by two days of internal meetings on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2023, at the Trade Mark Hotel in Nairobi and a field visit to one of the project sites.
May 24th, the Horticulture Innovation Lab will host a public conference, open to members of the public and private stakeholders in the region. This meeting will focus on the power of fruits and vegetables, from an economic, nutrition, and social standpoint. The program will consist of plenary sessions, breakout session discussions, exhibitions, and opportunities to network.
May 25th will consist of a regional hubs mini-summit, project principal investigators’ training, and a concurrent Horticulture Innovation Lab Advisory Board meeting. On May 26th, a capacity-strengthening day will be held with various trainings being offered on GenderUp and Evidence-Informed Policy and Practices being led by ICED.
