Humanitarian Intervention

“Until we deliver the political solutions that create peace, we must implement the humanitarian solutions that create hope and stability across the region. Failure to do so will haunt us all for decades to come.”

– Ertharin Cousin

The global community is a blend of different cultures and traditional practices, as well as varied mindsets and individual values. However, there are certain aspects of being human that are considered human rights, including the right to peace, ethnic and religious diversity, and a standard quality of life. Humanitarian intervention is the use or threat of military involvement and forcible foreign intervention by an organization or an alliance of organizations to end extreme human suffering or possible death. The foundation for humanitarian intervention is the intent to interrupt a breach of basic human rights, including forced expulsion, genocide, and dictatorship.
