Peter Wandwasi

Dr Peter Wandwasi served as a member of the Evaluation Advisory Panel (EAP) of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) from 2011-2016. The Evaluation Advisory Panel (EAP) provides technical independent input and advise on Evaluation Quality Control and assurance of AGRA’s M&E Work. Peter established the United Nations Independent System-wide Evaluation Mechanism which is supported by various United Nations General Assembly Resolutions. Peter was also part-time lecturer to postgraduate students at the Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where he developed Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) course contents and lectured in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) ending in 2015

He previously, served as the Strategic Planning Expert, Resource Mobilization and Economic crisis consultant at the Pan African Parliament where he developed Results-based M&E Strategy for the Pan African Parliament. In addition, he was consultant and project manager on streamlining and improving the effectiveness of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and served as a Research Manager at Productivitysa (formerly, National Productivity Institute, NPI).Peter worked as a Researcher at the National Institute for Economic Policy (NIEP) in the early 1990s and 2000s [formerly, the Macro Economic Research Group (MERG) of the ANC during the liberation period] in Johannesburg. Peter was a key guest speaker at the General Assembly of the Association of African Public Service Commissions at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on The Role of Evaluation Information in Enhancing Good Governance Practices in Africa on 23 October 2013

 Peter’s PhD is in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) with added specialization in Metaevaluation (evaluation of evaluations) at the Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Peter has Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Strategy and Policy through the Center for Executive Education in Johannesburg (Newport University, USA), a Bachelor of Philosophy degree (BPhil) in Value Analysis and Policy formulation, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town and did his General Education (GE) at Bugema University in Kampala, Uganda.

Peter has also undertaken specialized professional postgraduate skills development training certificates in International Development (Joint Training program between the Wits School of Governance/University of McGill, Canada); Fail-Safe Project Management for Evaluation Professionals(Joint Training program between the World Bank and Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand); Results–Based Management, Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in Development and Public Sectors(Wits School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand); Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of International Development Programs(Center for International Development (CID), University of Bologna, Italy); as well as specialized skills development course in Addressing Complication and Complexity in Evaluation within the context of Systems Thinking Dynamics (Swiss Federal Office of personnel, Bern, Federal Government of Switzerland).
