Naman Keita, currently a Senior Statistician at the World Bank Consultant (retired from FAO) in Rome, Italy. He leads the implementation of the research programme of the Global Strategy for development of methodological guidelines and handbooks for agricultural statistics, support to design and implementation of Strategic Plans for Agricultural Statistics in Tanzania and Malawi, organization of Scientific Advisory Meetings and Expert Meetings.
In April 2015- 2016, Naman contributed as a lead consultant in preparation of Volume 2 of the FAO world programme for census of Agriculture 2020 Guidelines on implementing the census of agriculture by supporting FAO Statistics Division Census Team. He is the Co-author of several methodological publications, including Handbook on Master Sampling Frame for Agricultural Censuses and Surveys. From September 2015 to June 2016, he gave limited support to the Global Strategy, particularly on implementation of field tests and publication of some methodological documents. In 1993-2013 he was at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Statistics Division (ESS) as the Statistician; Senior Statistician and Principal Officer where he led the development of methodological guidelines and handbooks for agricultural censuses and surveys.
He has taken part in different assignments that include but are not limited to Development of Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GS) and Implementation Plan in 2008-2012, Rome, Italy. The FAO Statistics Division on a project on Comprehensive and Global Statistical Capacity Development and Methodological Development project as a Senior Statistician (Principal Officer D1 2011-2013). Leader and Supervisor of FAO Team for Development and Implementation Plan of the GS where he gave overall coordination, supervision and leadership of FAO team and consultants dedicated to the development of the GS and Implementation Plan.
He is a member of the professional association ISI (also member of scientific committee for 60th WSC), IASS, and Association Malienne de la Statistique.
Naman has training in Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Advanced Sampling Methodology, other trainings / certified in include Questionnaire design, MS Office, SAS, SPSS, Logical Framework Analysis, moderation and Management training, Project design, monitoring and evaluation.
