Dr Backson Sibanda
Dr Backson Sibanda, Director and CEO BACTHA consulting is a seasoned professional with in excess of 38 years’ work experience in government, parastatals, NGOs and has devoted the past 28 years to establishing himself as a change agent, development expert and international development and M&E expert. Of these, 24 have been in advising, leading and facilitating organisations and governments in areas of strategic planning, and to establish M&E institutions and systems, adopting Results Based Management as well as training and facilitating UN staff and implementing partners (governments, NGOs, CBOs and other international organizations) in these fields. His experience in facilitating strategic planning, Results Based Management, Programme/Project Design, Monitoring and Evaluation spans four United Nations agencies, the international community, government and quasi government institutions.
Dr Sibanda is an evaluation and facilitation expert who has undertaken and led more than 200 evaluations, supervised over 300 evaluations and facilitated more than 200 workshops (including training workshops, meetings, retreats, negotiations) over the last 35 years. He has a strong track record in facilitating negotiations, meetings and workshops since 1993. He has written and published papers and blogs on M&E.
Backson has provided services to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in 2013/2014. The consultancy services which included skills gap analysis in the areas of Results Based Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, facilitating training in RBM, coaching and mentoring in Monitoring and Evaluation, developing Evaluation Policy, Guidelines and Systems and undertaking and supervising two major evaluations.
He is providing training, coaching and mentoring to organizations and individuals in RBM, M&E. Recently he has provided consultancy services since 2013 to UNDP in the following countries: South Africa, Gambia, Swaziland, Tanzania. He has also provided consultancy services to UNICEF Swaziland, Southern Africa Trust, Development Bank of Southern Africa and ADA, provincial government in Kwazulu Natal. He has also provided RBM, M&E support and capacity development to the Southern Africa Trust, Development Bank of Southern Africa and the Canadian Embassy in South Africa.
